Lesson III

SPIRITUAL WARFARE
AS IT RELATES TO WELLNESS

Commands Of Dealing With the Devil

Resist “Therefore submit to God. Resist the devil and he will flee from you.” (Jas. 4:7 NKJV)

Wrestle “For we do not wrestle against flesh and blood, but against principalities, against powers, against the rulers of the darkness of this age, against spiritual hosts of wickedness in the heavenly places.” (Eph. 6:12 NKJV)

Bind No one can enter a strong man’s house and plunder his goods, unless he first

binds the strong man. And then he will plunder his house.” Mk. 3:27 NKJV)

Cast Out And these signs will follow those who believe: In my name they will cast out demons; they will speak with new tongues.” (Mk. 16:17 NKJV)

Remove They will take up serpents; and if they drink anything deadly, it will by no means hurt them; they will lay hands on the sick, and they will recover.” (Mk. 16:18 NKJV)

Pull Down Strongholds For the weapons of our warfare are not carnal but mighty in God for the pulling down strongholds. (2 Cor. 10:4 NKJV)

Overcome And they overcame him by the blood of the Lamb and by the word of their testimony, and they did not love their lives to the death.” (Rev. 12:11 NKJV)

Utilize the Scriptures “Then Jesus said to him, ‘Away with you, Satan! For it is written ‘You shall worship the LORD your God, and Him only you shall serve.” (Matt. 4:10 NKJV) Depend Upon the Holy Spirit. When He had been baptized, Jesus came up immediately from the water; and behold He saw the Spirit of God descending like a dove and alighting upon Him.” (Matt. 4:10 NKJV) Have a Pure Life. So Pilate said to the chief priests and the crowd. ‘I find no fault in this Man.” (Lk. 23:4 NKJV) Fast When Necessary. “However, this kind does not go out except by prayer and fasting.” (Matt. 17:21 NKJV) Attack! “Then Jesus said to him, ‘Away with you, Satan! For it is written, ‘You shall worship the LORD your God, and Him only you shall serve.’” (Matt 4:10 NKJV)

The above outline give further instructions on How to Wage War Against the Devil. One of the basic problems for believers in Spiritual Warfare is that the devil wants folks to think he doesn’t exist. But he does exist. He’s alive and well. He attacks every believer every day. We need to know how to resist him. We need to know how wrestle with him. We need to know how to bind him. We need to know how to cast him out, remove him, pull down strongholds, and overcome him. Basically, we do all of the above utilizing the Scriptures, depending on the Holy Spirit to give us guidance and instructions, be certain all sins are confessed and removed, fast when led to, and make our attack.

Basically, we need to lean heavily on the Holy Spirit to show us a strategy against our adversary, Satan. We utilize the Name of Jesus and His shed blood and apply that blood in Jesus Name to give us authority over the devil. The devil hates the blood. He can’t stand in the face of the Name of Jesus. Plus, the power that’s in us is greater than the power of Satan. So we can expect victory every time.

Notice in the above paragraphs we “be certain all sins are confessed and removed”. If we have sin in our lives, all the above is useless. God want us to have clean hands and pure hearts. That’s why we can use Jesus as our example. Jesus was pure. He was “full of the Spirit”. And He had been fasting before His first “recorded” bout with the devil. He was READY. You and I have to be ready, or we’ll end up in defeat.

The bottom line is that whether we resist the devil or not, he definitely is going to attack us on a daily basis. If we’re not ready to fight as we have described, or if we aren’t protected by our armor, we’re destined to lose the battle. Satan will have overcome us!

Let’s watch; let’s be ready. Let’s position ourselves. And let’s overcome our most vicious foe!
